Saina remains unbeaten in Lucknow
The last day of the Lucknow leg saw Mumbai rockets who won their last match against Delhi Acers took on the Awadhe Warriors, who will be desperate for the another win in the competition.
The first match was the men doubles contest between Shem Goh/Kido of Awadhe Warriors and Yong Dae/Nipitphonp of Mumbai Rockets. Both side showed his class by playing some intense rallies. The second set is completely dominated by Warriors. The third set went on neck-to-neck and Rockets won the thriller by 11-7, 3-11,13-11.
The second match was the men’s singles between Kidambi of Awadhe Warriors and Ajay Jayaram of Mumbai Rockets. Kidambi maintained the lead in the first set and won by 11-5. The second set saw an early lead by Kidambi but Ajay made a comeback and won the set by 15-14. Both the players showed aggression. The third set had an early lead by Ajay. Srikanth made some errors and Ajay won the match by 5-11, 15-14,11-3.
Armed with the presence of Olympics bronze medallist Saina, the Awadhe Warriors will look to win their third match on the trot as she met world number 3 Mumbai Rocket’s Sung Ji Hyun. The first set saw a tiring 66-shot rally. Saina took a lead. The second set was dominated by Sung Ji. The third set had some brilliant rallies but Saina won and remained unbeaten 12-10, 4-11, 11-5.
The fourth game was a trump match for Rockets. The badminton fight between Vincent & HS Prannoy. Vincent had an early lead but Prannoy leveled up and won the game. The second set went neck-to-neck and fall in favour of Vincent. Prannoy won the thriller trump match for Mumbai Rockets 14-12, 9-11, 11-8.
The fifth game was mixed doubles between Savitree/Bodin of Awadhe Warriors & Nipitphon/Zieba of Rockets. This was a trump match for Awadhe Warriors. The first started with an exciting note where Savitree/Bodin won the first game at 11-8. The second set was completely dominated by Savitree/Bodin and got the straight win by 11-8 & 11-4.
